 It’s no accident that Snuggler’s Cove faux fur blankets are almost as comforting as a mother’s hug. Lee Goll created her first blanket for her own daughter – a Mini Snuggler.
Soon after, Lee’s best friend was diagnosed with cancer. Sadly she didn’t win the battle. Lee found herself raising her best friend’s five year old daughter. She made another Mini Snuggler to help comfort the newest addition to her family.
From this act of kindness, a family tradition was born and each child received Snuggler’s throughout the stages of their lives. When a child outgrew the Mini Snuggler, they next received a Snuggler in Junior High. When the children “grew up” and left the nest, they were comforted by a Super Snuggler to always have their mother with them.
Lee’s natural ability to share warmth and love carry over into her creations. Not only has Lee made a practice of “adopting” children in need of love, to date she’s taken in over 9 children, she also rescues animals. This inspired her to incorporate a pet friendly faux fur blanket for the comfort of both people and pets – Pet Sitz. All Snuggler’s Cove blankets, the Snuggler series and the Pet Sitz, are made with a special faux fur that repels pet hair.
Each blanket is crafted with painstaking care and Lee claims she doesn’t have a favorite. The Snuggler Series (Mini, Snuggler, and Super) are one of a kind creations with patterns and material hand selected by Lee. She creates only designs that she loves and that have a personal appeal.
 In 1992 Lee was diagnosed with breast cancer. During her courageous battle and treatments, Lee found that she couldn’t “just sit around”. She began making more blankets. The creation and gifting of blankets proved to be therapeutic for both Lee and the lucky recipients. Thankfully Lee is now a healthy cancer survivor.
With the support and encouragement of her “children” Lee decided to turn her blankets into a business and in 1994 she began traveling to local trade and craft shows to sell her wares. While the business started out on a rather small scale it became more lucrative by 1996. Lee notes that people of all ages really started to connect with her blankets. Not only the “people blankets” were a success, but soon the “Pet Blankets” became well known in the craft show circle. Many times a customer would relate a pet story regarding where the Pet Sitz were headed: Alaska, Canada, Japan, Australia, and more.
One of the most enchanting trade show stories is that of a young autistic girl with limited speech abilities. The young girl was with her parents and when she saw one of Lee’s creations, a white faux fur Snuggler with baby seals on it, the girl began to speak to the baby seals and rub her cheek on the luxurious softness of the blanket. This brought the parents to tears and of course they had to have the blanket for her.
As appeal grew, it was apparent that Lee needed to offer her fabulous blankets to a broader customer base. Until now, Snuggler’s Cove blankets were only available at trade shows or by special order via word of mouth referral.
